The ROG Phone 2, unlike other gaming phones, aims to offer a flagship gaming experience. Under the hood, Asus is using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset that helps the phone to achieve superior benchmark scores when compared to other flagship smartphones. Asus has also upgraded the storage to UFS 3.0 format which should make for faster read/write speeds which should result in faster ap load times. Asus is offering up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage with this phone.

To keep the peak performance, the ROG Phone 2 comes with a 3D vapour cooling chamber that Asus claims will ensure sustained peak performance. There’s also a vent at the back for venting out the heat from the cooling system.

Asus has worked on the display as well and for those love great displays, the ROG Phone 2 should be a joy. Asus is still offering a 6.59-inch display with thick bezels on top and bottom. However, the ROG Phone is using a 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED screen with 1ms response rate and 49ms touch latency. The ROG Phone 2 is the first phone in the world to use a 10 bit HDR AMOLED panel. And if you were wondering, there’s an in-display fingerprint sensor.

For software, the ROG Phone 2 runs on Android 9 Pie and Asus is offering an option to choose between two user interfaces. Users can either choose the custom ROG UI with a gaming-oriented theme or opt for the stock Android-inspired design that we have previously seen on the Asus 6z. The ROG Phone 2 also get the ROG Armoury Crate that offers a custom interface for all games and various system controls.

The ROG Phone 2 impresses once again with the gigantic 6000mAh battery. Asus claims better battery life than the ROG Phone 1 and without gaming, the phone should last easily for the full day even with heavy usage. The phone comes with support for 30W fast charging although you get an 18W charger with the box.

Despite being a gaming smartphone, Asus is offering the flagship cameras that we saw on the Asus 6z. The ROG Phone 2 is coming with a 48-megapixel main camera along with the 13-megapixel wide-angle camera at the back. It also gets a dual-LED flashlight. For selfies, there’s a 24-megapixel camera at the front.

At the front, the ROG Phone 2 uses the bezels to house a dual speaker stereo setup. You also get the 3.5mm headphone jack and unlike any other flagship, it also comes with an FM Radio. For gaming, the phone sports Air Triggers 2 which are essentially ultrasonic sensors on the top of the phone. These buttons can be customized to an individual game. The sensors now get improved haptic feedback and a better response rate. The phone also comes with four microphones as well.

Asus is also bringing most of the accessories for the ROG Phone 2 to India. The ROG Twinview Display Dock aims to offer a console-like experience with dual screens.
