Vivo introduced its Z-series in India in the month of July this year. The first smartphone the company launched under the Z-series was the Vivo Z1 Pro. For the price of Rs 14,990, the Vivo Z1 Pro is a good value-for-money smartphone. This is also what we at India Today Tech said in the review
The Vivo Z1X comes with a better screen and also better cameras when compared to the Vivo Z1 Pro. The Vivo Z1X includes a main 48MP Sony IMX582 sensor on the back and a 32MP selfie shooter on the front. The combination of 48MP and 32MP sensor makes the Vivo Z1X one of the best camera phones in the price point. For the Vivo Z1X, the company uses Super AMOLED screen. The Vivo Z1 Pro comes with FHD+ display.
Besides the better screen and cameras the Vivo Z1X is powered by the same processor that powers the Vivo Z1 Pro. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor. The phone packs slightly smaller battery than the Vivo Z1 Pro but that shouldn’t be a problem because there’s 22W flash charging support bundled with the phone.
As said, the new Vivo Z1X is Rs 2,000 costlier than the Vivo Z1 Pro. Is it worth spending Rs 2,000 extra on the Vivo Z1X or the Vivo Z1 Pro makes more sensor? Let find out.
Vivo Z1X vs Vivo Z1 Pro: What is different
–The Vivo Z1X comes with a sMOLED screen while the Vivo Z1 Pro comes with FHD+ resolution. For the sMOLED display the Vivo Z1X gets plus one here, The Vivo Z1X comes with a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED display that offers 2340x1080p screen resolution. In comparison, the Vivo Z1 Pro includes a 6.53-inch FHD+ display that offers screen-to-body-ratio of 90.77 per cent and resolution of 2340x1080pixels. Both the Vivo phones show good contrast and punchy colours and deliver great viewing angles but in my opinion, the Vivo Z1X screen is slightly better than the Z1 Pro.
–Both the phones are powered by the same processor from Qualcomm. The Vivo Z1X and the Vivo Z1 Pro are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor. It is a powerful chip and is capable of handling not just basic but also heavy graphics games very easily. Both the Vivo Z1X and the Z1 Pro offer a lag-free experience to the users. The phones are capable of handling multi-tasking very well. Overall, if you’re a power user or play PUBG all the time both the Vivo phones are great devices to consider depending on your budget. Interestingly both the Vivo Z1X and the Vivo Z1 Pro come with various gaming features in order to deliver great and seamless gaming performance to the users.
–In terms of back cameras both the Vivo Z1X and the Z1 Pro come with a triple shooter on the rear panel and single image sensor on the front. In terms of camera specs the Vivo Z1X includes a primary 48MP Sony IMX582 sensor, secondary 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and third is a 2MP depth sensor. In comparison, the Vivo Z1 Pro uses a 16-megapixel sensor accompanied by an 8-megapixel super-wide secondary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Both the Vivo phones have good cameras but I feel the pictures clicked with the Vivo Z1X appear with better details and colours, especially in good lighting. The Vivo Z1 Pro is also capable of clicking good pictures. Both the Vivo phones come with several AI-based camera features to enable users to play around with pictures.
–Coming to the front camera, Both the Vivo Z1X and the Z1 Pro come with the same selfie camera. The phones include 32MP selfie shooter on the front. Both the Vivo Z1X and the Vivo Z1 Pro manage click great selfies with lots of details. There are several filters available that help enhance the selfies further. The portrait selfie mode also does a good job. It clicks selfies with good details and background properly blurred out.
–One of the best bits about the Vivo Z1 Pto was its battery. The phone includes a massive 5000mAh battery inside it. In comparison, the Vivo Z1X includes a smaller battery. The phone comes with a 4500mAh battery. I believe the small battery will not cause a problem because the Z1X comes bundled with 22W fast charging support. As I mentioned in the review of the Z1X the small battery doesn’t matter much here because 22W fast charging support takes care of it. It is great to see a mid-range smartphone come with 22W fast charger out-of-the-box. For me, the phone took over around 1:20hours to charge from 0 to 100 per cent, which is good — the India Today Tech Vivo Z1X review said.
–On the software front both the Vivo Z1X and the Vivo Z1 Pro run Android 9 Pie based on FunTouch OS 9. As I also mentioned in both Vivo Z1 Pro and Vivo Z1X review, software is one area where Vivo needs to work on slightly as FunTouch OS is too cluttered.
–As far as the design is concerned both the Vivo Z1X and the Vivo Z1 Pro look almost the same if not completely. Both the phones come with gradient finish and clean ergonomic.
–Another difference between the Vivo Z1X and the Vivo Z1 Pro is that the new one comes with in-display fingerprint sensor while the old one sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Both the phones also include AI face ID support.

Should you spend Rs 2,000 extra on Vivo Z1X or get Z1 Pro instead?
After using both the Vivo Z1X and the Vivo Z1 Pro I believe it is worth spending Rs 2,000 on the new Z-series phone. As noted earlier the Vivo Z1X is a great upgrade over the Vivo Z1 Pro. The Z1X comes with AMOLED display, Snapdragon 712 processor, 48MP main rear camera paired with two other sensors (ultra-wide and depth), 32MP selfie shooter, in-display fingerprint sensor, among other things.
As we at India Today Tech noted in the full review of the phone, at Rs 16,990 the Vivo Z1X is a good smartphone to consider if you’re looking for a device that serves all the purpose. The Vivo Z1X offers everything that a user wants in a smartphone. It brings big and bright screen, clicks great pictures, brings in-display fingerprint sensor and 22W fast charging support.
However, if you have budget constraints and can’t splurge more than Rs 15,000 then the Vivo Z1 Pro makes complete sense. As said in the full review of the phone the Z1 Pro is one of the best smartphones available in under Rs 15,000 price bracket in India right now.
