Kim Kardashian West’s shapewear line Kimono is no more. It will now be known as Skims Solutionwear. The name was changed amid outcry over cultural appropriation. The reality television personality and entrepreneur said on Instagram that she changed the name after much “thought and consideration.” Kardashian West told WSJ Magazine in July that she had intended Kimono to be a play on her name, and she had not anticipated the backlash. The outcry arose in June, when she attempted to trademark Kimono, which refers to a traditional Japanese style of wrap garment, often worn on formal occasions.

Maturing market

After years of growth, the smartphone market’s recent slide has continued into the second quarter of 2019, TechCrunch reported, citing numbers from analyst group, Gartner. At 1.7%, the sales drop is not huge, but it does point to a continued problem for manufacturers, falling from 374 million smartphones sold to 368 million. The biggest hit continues to be in the high end of the market. Of the top five markets, only China and Brazil saw growth. The No. 2 market, India, saw a 2.3% drop. Cupertino’s Apple continued to decline, though not as much as in the first quarter.

Number of the day

That’s how much shares of Autodesk dropped in after-hours trading Tuesday despite swinging from a loss last year to a profit in the second quarter. The San Rafael company warned that trade wars could affect construction and manufacturing customers who use its design software and in turn hurt its results, and issued revenue guidance below analysts’ expectations for the third quarter. Autodesk shares have climbed 17% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has increased 15%.
