Online retail giant Amazon has been accused of ‘sexism’ after an advertisement for a fitness trampoline stated women and children should ‘seek assistance from men’.

The 40-inch mini bouncer was listed for £95 by the brand Newan and states it is best used for workouts for adults or children.

However, the description for the fitness gadget has angered some as it has suggested that the product cannot be successfully built without the help of a man.

The description reads: ‘This fitness rebounder has a relatively simple installation process, but the elastic rope part can be tricky.

‘Not advised for child or woman to install alone, additional assistance from men is preferred.’

The product is still listed on Amazon, however it is now currently out of stock, with advise to customers that it may not become available again.

Katherine Powderly took a screenshot of the product description and put it on Twitter, calling Amazon out for allowing the product to be listed.

She said: ‘Hey @amazon nice listing #everydaysexism’.

One customer fumed on the Amazon Q&A board and slammed the Newan brand for its description and said: ‘And why can’t a woman install this alone?

‘Could this company be any more sexist?’

Newan responded: ‘This is not the case.

‘Because installing the elastic rope is more laborious, so we recommend that men install the trampoline first. If the woman can install it, it is more perfect.’

Another added: ‘Why do you recommend that ‘It is not advisable for a woman to be installed alone, additional assistance from men is preferred’?’

Newan replied: ‘This trampoline can be a bit tricky when installing elastic cord parts, it needs some strength.

‘Although we have a matching tool, it is best to wear gloves when installing the elastic rope, so we recommend men first.

‘If the lady can also install it, it will be even more perfect!

‘If you experience the trampoline after installation, you will want to jump on it every day, it is a source of happiness for us.’
