GPS device leads Rockford police to car thief



ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – 24-year-old Charles E. Roach, Jr. was found guilty of residential burglary on Wednesday after a jury trial.

On August 8th, 2017, Rockford Police were called to a home in the 1500 block of Camp Avenue and found a home broken into, and several items and a vehicle missing.

Detectives were able to track down the stolen vehicle using a built in GPS system.

DNA evidence also placed Roach inside the vehicle. In addition, witnesses saw him driving the vehicle in the area where the SUV was recovered.

Roach faces 15 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 11th.
