SOCOM 4 set for 2011

Zipper Interactive confirms Move-compatible military shooter won’t see release until next year. Next year could be a big one for PlayStation 3-exclusive shooters. Killzone 3 was already set for a February debut , rumors persist of a 2011 launch for the still-unconfirmed Resistance 3 , and developer Zipper Interactive today confirmed the tactical shooter SOCOM 4 won’t be deploying until next year.

Publisher lined up for Double Fine’s latest

Studio founder Tim Schafer says post-Brutal Legend project should be revealed soon, offers harsh appraisal of Activision CEO Bobby Kotick. Double Fine Productions has a history of trouble getting its games onto store shelves, but its next projects are off to a smooth start. In an interview with Eurogamer , studio founder Tim Schafer confirmed that Double Fine already has a publisher for the game the company is working on right now.

Kinect preorders ‘very low’ – UK retailer

ShopTo calls for Microsoft to finalize motion-sensing peripheral at lower than widely rumored price, says customers aren’t biting at current cost. Microsoft confirmed a November 4 launch for its Kinect motion-sensing camera peripheral at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo , but it didn’t nail down a price for the device.

Sega prepping core Kinect title

Western division head Mike Hayes pins late 2011 or early 2012 launch date for game using Xbox 360 camera in a “more sophisticated” way. When the Kinect launches November 4, the Xbox 360 motion-sensing camera will be accompanied to store shelves by a handful of games, including Sega’s Sonic Freeriders. While the publisher’s Kinect debut will be a new entry in its mascot spin-off boarding game designed for broad appeal, Sega has plans to use the Kinect for something more specifically targeting traditional gamers
