Independence Day arrives with a fizzle, as Ruffian Games’ 360-exclusive open-world actioner joins High Voltage’s Wii-only Tournament of Legends, and not much else. Fireworks may be the name of the game on the 4th of July, but the US game industry’s release lineup for the week is anything but scintillating. The dearth of releases is headlined by Microsoft’s sequel to 2007′s open-world action adventure Crackdown, as well as the latest Wii exclusive from High Voltage Software.

Square Enix’s PlayStation 3 action RPG debuts atop the charts as hardware sales continue to slump. Japanese game sales started this month strong, with tracking firm Media Create reporting nine titles selling more than 30,000 copies for the week ended April 4 .
