GameSpot UK Weekly Update: July 3
Hello there and welcome to the first GameSpot UK weekly update, where each Friday we’ll share the best UK content from the past week.
On this week’s GameSpot UK podcast we had the pleasure of being joined by Jamie Firth and Andy Gray from Codemasters who filled us in on Ashes Cricket 2009 and Formula One 2009. We also had Scott Simpson on the show from Play Brains, the guys behind the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade game Madballs. Plus you can win one of five copies of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. (Remember to bookmark the podcast page, sign up to our RSS feed, or subscribe to it through iTunes.) We’re taking a break from Start/Select this week but fear not, the show will be back with a bumper episode next Friday!

Guy, Andy, Jamie and Scott run us through this week’s news, site updates, feedback and more in the GameSpot UK Podcast.
On the previews front this week, I got an updated hands on with Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for the PlayStation 3, including a first look at Momiji’s campaign, and checked out the adorable A Boy and His Blob for Wii. Meanwhile, Guy got his zombie-slaying on at a Left 4 Dead 2 preview event and also checked out Sci-Fi FPS Interstellar Marines.
We’ve also been covering all sorts of news including THQ and Sony employees defecting to MTV Games, Fight Night Round 4 taking the number one spot on the UK chart, a Swedish gaming group agreeing to purchase The Pirate Bay, and BBC4 announcing plans for a comedy drama based on the 80’s console war between the ZX Spectrum and BBC Micro. Lastly, Mark Walton filled us in on this week’s releases in Shippin’ Out, and Nintendo’s plans to partner with Channel Five for a new TV show, Britain’s Best Brain.
Finally, we announced a competition with Ubisoft to give away a gold-plated Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood iPod on London Calling (entries close today so act fast!). Lastly, stay up to date with all the comings and goings of the GameSpot UK crew on the UK homepage: uk.gamespot.com and we’ll see you next week.
